Railroads are covered by the Federal Employers Liability Act, known as FELA.
Liability is the operative word. You must show the railroad is liable,
or did something negligent to cause your injury.
That's why it is IMPERATIVE to contact your union lawyer immediately.
We know what to do to protect you and your rights.

What else to do if you have been injured

  • CONTACT - Sean or Louis at Brent Coon & Associates as soon as possible. Our team has decades of experience helping protect injured railroad workers. We can walk you through the process and help you avoid the mistakes and pitfalls that could dimmish your compensation.

  • REPORT - Your injury to union leadership. Report injury to company manager. It is extremely important that you start to create a record of your injury and the responses as soon as you can.

  • HOSPITAL - Ask to be examined at the nearest hospital E.R. Your employer may suggest you see the medical professional of their choice. But, it will be much better for you if you see one that is impartial. Do not allow any UPRR management into the doctor's office or the ER with you.

  • TREATMENT - The doctor is now your boss. Follow their instructions. If the doctor says go home rest and take pain medication, DO NOT be bullied into returning to the UPRR Yard Office, giving statements or participate in reenactments. Follow your doctor’s instructions.

  • ALLOW Brent Coon & Associates to guide you through this critical time post injury. The process of getting all the compensation you deserve can be complicated. And you will frequently get “advice” from people who do not have your best interests in mind.
